Vanishing on 7th street

Vanishing on 7th Street

Detroit is full of trouble. Night is getting longer, lasting for days at a time. Worst let there something in the darkness…something something sinister...something evil…something NOT OF THIS WORLD…DUH DUH. Basically the monster of this film is darkness. It your engulf in darkness without any light you get taken away. They never explain where, but you don’t come by and they apply it isn’t good. It only keeps your clothes there.  Any types of lights put it away, but electricity doesn’t seem to be working as well and batteries don’t seem to last long. Cars and vehicles seem to stop. Also the darkness can trick you creating false light, illusions, and the voices of love ones to trick you... The movies show a small group of survivors living in this world and trying to get out of Detroit.
Here one problem I had with this movie of the bat.  If regular light bulb don’t work that well, and flashlight go out (apparently they little their batteries from the Dollar Tree) what would you do. Think about it what would you do. Regular electricity doesn’t work well, so what are your options. If you say create a bonfire or torch congratulations you’re not a moron. Not saying goes around light everything on fire. That will kill you due to Detroit house being build out of wood and neglect.  But fire in say a garbage can could save your butt. One time they do they try to make a torch. It works, dude drops it of course.

Ok that aside it has some good moments. I am sucker for a small group of people trapped somewhere, and force to deal with a danger. The character seems like regular guys, and does a good job of letting you figure out the situation with them. The theory the audience may be thinking is what they discuss. Sometimes the conflicts seem forces, because if they won’t together to well it wouldn’t be as much danger. That said most the acting was good. You feel for MOST of the character even in their whiny moments. They did this by introducing them when they were separated, during the first days of the monsters attacking. You see the confusion of thing just happening. Then they jump ahead where they all meet at the bar and kind of know the rules. A lot of their plans seem reasonable for a group of people that have only bad options to choose from. When they fight it kind of make sense cause it during the time they first meeting, and their limited light to spare.
One character that annoyed me was the little kid. Don’t want to give things away, but lot of the bad stuff that happening his fault. He basically the F up of the group. Otherwise messed up because they were tricked, wasn’t fast enough or had to save this kid. Seriously never wanted to punch a 12 year old before. I wasn’t so much the kid was a bad actor...it just had him being a moron. In a small group the cast is only as strong as it weakest link.
They didn’t explain a lot of things or what the monster is. That might annoy some people.  But thought it made it scarier. Some of rules of what electronics work seem arbitrary at times. The mind game the darkness loses was pretty cool.  I like the idea it can make an illusion to create false light like a mirage. So you could really only trust the light in your hand, so you never felt really safe.  It was a low budget film but the way it was shot was pretty cool with light and dark effect it used a lot in the movie

Afterlife

After Life
Nicole Richie the famous movie star and model for FORHEAD MONTHLY, stars with Liam (darkman) Nelson. We introduce to her and her boyfriend (who played by the young PC guy in the Mac commercials). She is a teacher who feels emotionless in her life. Basically she gets into a car crash with her boyfriend, and wakes up in a funeral home. Liam Neeson runs the funeral home. He is keeping her there, saying she dead. He says he has the ability to talk to dead people The whole movie you try to figure out is she really dead, or is Liama Neeson just a crazy bastard who keeping her locked up in the funeral home. Also she naked a lot. A LOT!!!.  You can sketch her tits from memory at this point.  I actually got tired of seeing her tits. Which is shocking. I was like..You know what “Put some clothes on Wednesday Adams” Oh and it had bush in there if you interested. Worst let, she has the whitest ass I ever seen. I like getting mooned by the kid from Powder. Sorry it hard to pay attention to long dialogues about the true meaning of life and death when I staring at Punxsutawney Phil the whole time
Now if you her, and want to figure out if you dead or not there NUMEROUS ways to do it. There numerous ways to escape, but she doesn’t do any of it. This is worsen due to the time limit, sense a funeral coming up, her funeral where she going to be buried. She wants out but doesn’t really try that hard. They explain this because she already feels dead inside and inactive in life. I understand that part, but it doesn’t make you care about her character. If she doesn’t care about if she lives or dies why the audience should. I hated this woman wanted to get her killed. And this movie relies on the hospitals and cops being incompetent. I rely on people not being able to look at phone records, or that the body goes STRAIGHT to the funeral home after the person gets into an accident.
It’s a DUMB very slow movie that tries to be all ARTSY. Probably how they got her naked so much. They were like “Oh this is artistic, your clothes off showing you letting go of your emotion.” The movie was pure ass. It went on and on with no end in sight.

The Killing Jar

THE KILLING JAR

This movie stars Michael Madsen, Danny Trejo, and Harold Perrineau (Aka WAAAAAAAAAAAALTS Dad), in a bottle thriller. That is not a thriller involving reanimated bottles trying to take over the world but movie that takes place in a small room or location. This particular Location is a restaurant in the dead of night that hears a radio signal about some killer on the loose. The restaurant filled with questionble types and then Michael Madsan walks in at his creepy best and that when zee shat hits the fan.
This is kind of spoiler but lets say there more then one criminal in that restaurant, and amazing corencidence brings two forces together. It becomes a who done it, bringing in interrogations and general scariness.  Michael Madison pretty, good playing a cross between COOL HAND LUKE...and a Date Rapist. If you want to see someone torture someone ironically then Michael you man. It pretty good casting sense, a lot of the actors look shady and played shady rolls so the killer could be anyone. Its basicly an Extrodinary league of dirtbags. That Said you pretty much guess who the killer or killers is if you watch a lot of these types of movies. The movie about as hard to figure out as an episode of Scooby doo.  It still fun to watch them interact though. Not all the actors are great. The main actress is kind of sucky. This is bad sense she has to carry a lot of the film. She just don’t have it in her and the speech she give near the end sound less like a (FEMALE POWER speech )and more like some chick quitting her Job at the Gap and wanting to give you a piece of her mind.   The gun they have is pretty nasty and the gore its makes pretty awesome. All and all a pretty fun movie ounce you accept the premise.

My Bloody Valentine and American the Bill Hicks Story

Bloody Valentine 3D- As reviewed by someone who saw it in 2D
Little bit spoiler
A pick Ax wielding miner going around killing people in horrible ways…only Dean Winche…I mean some prodigal son can stop him. Movie opens up with new clipping blaming the main character for deaths of people in mines. Apparently he hit the wrong switch that might have caused an explosion. The mourn the deaths of his colleagues...he decided to have a drunk party in said cave with his friend. Pick Ax guy appears and starts killing people in very over the top bloody ways. Now some of these kills would look good in 3D. But looks kind of goofy in 2D sense it comes out looking very fake when it doesn’t pop out. Friends leave him to basically die and face the miner alone. He saves by two cops, who shoot the miner. Reveals that said miner is one of the people who were put in a coma when the cave collapsed. This not a spoiler. This happen in the first 10 minutes of the film. It then starts up again when Dean Winchester returns to the town just when the killing happens. He much deal with a town who hates him, a cop who married to his old girlfriend, and deciding if he should sale his dad mining company. Pretty good start of the movie. Is the killer back from the dead, is it a new killer all together. Only time will tell.

One main problem is EVERYONE in this town a doucebag. Everyone seems to be auditioning for ahole of the years accept for Maybe Dean, and his X love.  Thus you really don’t care about most of the character that die in this. That said not sure your suppose to. The deaths are very out there, and it’s over the top. It doesn’t seem to take it self serious. It’s a throwback to old slashed films of its kid, but with out constantly having to wink at you to make sure you’re in for the joke. It this one scene where this girl runs around naked for what seem like 20 minutes, while a killer chases her. Then there another of midget getting killed in what has to be the biggest one sided fight in cinema. If I saw this in pack theather, hopped up on soda, and having 3D boobs flashing in my face, I probably give it a higher score. But no, I saw it alone on Netflix...with only hand lotion and crippling sense of lonliness to keep me company. So that colors my view of this.
That said even with that, the ending pretty dumb even by dumb movie standards...and probally doesn’t make that much sense. Think they wanted to make it different from the original ending to give it some surprise...but  forgot to make it makes sense. Nor does it make you root for the red herring. Cause to made said red herring such a douce..you still don’t care if they live or die. The way they did it been done in a couple of movies as of late. It’s a new Clique that getting pretty old.  It basically would require the killer to have super speed to work. Also ends kind of abruptly for my taste. The main villain at the end doesnt really strike me fear
With that said it’s a good rental. See it with some friends...get intoxicated with your drug of choice, and enjoy

American- The Bill Hicks story
I should confess something. I never watch Bill Hicks perform or really knew that much about him. I know some comic snobs may frown on my lack of knowledge. But before you judge note, I see BILL ENVAL’s HERE YOUR SIGN 12 times, and seen the Carrot Top’s comedy Opus Chairman of the Board 5 times. So I know my shit
But heard people talking about him so decided to check out the documentary. The documentary followed his life, career and family from teens and to his death. I use basically just the people close to him, and few people he worked with to tell the story. This to me sets it apart from other comedy documentaries where it just talking heads of other comedians telling how awesome the comic is.
This made it not over sentimental…but still sad at times. It didn’t use too many clique or elevate him to saint hood. There was no candle in the wind song playing. They didn’t play “Bad repetition” or shit every time he did something controversial.  When he was an f up they say it, when he was great they say it.  I did like the family parts sense apparently family was very important to the guy sense he didn’t get close to that many people. And like the friendship of his best friend.  It made him seem like a swell guy to hang out with who actually was on the way to rehabilitation before he died. His comedy was brilliant, and I didn’t know how many comedians inspired by him and basically copy his stick and persona. It actually help that I didn’t know how he died. Because I assumed it would be him drugged out and in a pool of shemale Asian hookers in Bangkok. Nope he quit all that stuff before he died, just not quick enough.
The way they shot it was pretty good. It was basically a lot of still pictures, but the pictures moves, and pastes it over back drops. It was like one of those motion comics, and the pictures would transition smoothly into old footage. You got to see how he crafts his comedy from the start. He started as a teen, so you saw a clean cut comedian that was part of a duo who mixed in music, to a clean cut solo act, to a shock act, to a political comedian who travels the world, to an angry police comedian. In each one was funny in its own way.  You actually got to see how a joke crafted and perfected. It fact the drugging seem like him trying to figure his act out and get confidence and build a persona. I started out with some drinking, then mushrooms then heavier stuff.  But it just got a bit too real for him and he had to straighten out. As I said before he never really got super coked out.  He may of made an fool of himself on stage but don’t expect the doors or him getting shot in a meth deal gone wrong. It was kind of PRO drugs at times. Least it was pro rare intake of drugs for an occasional spiritual journey in the desert. You saw some of the people in comedy in the early 80’s and 90’s. A lot of the people that were with them you will have no idea who they were. So I guessing they never really hit it big
I would like to see aspects of his life they didn’t touch. Like did he have any girlfriends? What about his beef with Leno, like to see how living in the UK was.  Sense yea being big in a UK one thing, but everyone likes to big in their own country.  It be nice see that dynamic. Sometimes it was hard to get a sense of what level of fame he had at certain parts of the movie. This did show being on the tonight show doesn’t mean you wont have to do shitty clubs or you will be rich. Sometime it wasn’t clear how many years has passed. It also got slow at parts, like when he was traveling across the country.

Still even with the missing stuff, I am glad I checked it out and think me not knowing who the guy is help the me enjoy the movie more. It short and pretty breezy.  I am sure if you were into the guy, you would like to see how he did his comedy

First post

I been watching a lot of net flix streaming

I decided to review some to see maybe some of you may want to watch them base on my advice. When I watch netflix streaming I normaly watch NON big studio movies, or movies that went direct to videos or artsy. The mainstream videos I get sent in the mail.
